The company was formed with support from adesso AG, which is also based in Dortmund, Germany.

When the company was incorporated under the name e-Spirit AG in 2007, Jörn Bodemann took on the position of Chief Executive of the Management Board. Maxwell Hoffmann has specialized in localization, multilingual publishing, document conversion, XML and process training in the translation industry for over 12 years. He has over 20 years of DTP experience and a Degree in Graphic Arts from California State University, Fresno.
Hoffmann began his career as a commercial artist, moved into digital typesetting, then migrated into training and technical sales support for a variety of UNIX-based publishing software vendors, including Interleaf. He designed and managed large scale publishing solutions in the aerospace, automotive and Life Sciences industries. His clients ranged from Boeing to the National Security Agency.
Hoffmann also served as Product Marketing Manager and Director of Worldwide Sales Training for FrameMaker at Frame Technology. He was designated an Adobe Community Expert on FrameMaker. Hoffmann has created single-source publishing solutions for over 15 years and has trained over 1,300 people on scalable tech doc and website solutions and localization best practices.

He founded Doing Media LLC, a communications agency, in 2007, serving a number of consulting, services and manufacturing firms in South Texas. Before striking out on his own Todd had an eight and a half year career at the Fortune 200 financial services firm, USAA. He was the enterprise business contact for web content management, business manager for the website search engine and was part of the original team that put USAA on the Internet in 1999. He owned a successful media production business in Southern California and began his career in the New York metropolitan area as a freelance and staff video producer, director and director of photography.
